Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the modalities of Chinese medicine and is based on the ancient theories of the flow of energy (qi) through distinct pathways that course the body, similar to the way nerves and blood vessels do. According to this theory, acupuncture adjusts this flow of energy in the body, leading it to areas that are weak or deficient and draining it from areas that are blocked and/or over-abundant. By regulating the flow of energy in this way, acupuncture restores and maintains the harmonious balance of the body. Thin, sterile, disposable needles are inserted into specific points along the body's energy pathways.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine dates back thousands of years and is quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular and effective complementary therapies in the West. Herbal remedies may contain ingredients from the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms. Most often however, ingredients are chosen from vegetable sources like leaves, flowers, roots, and bark. Chinese herbal medicine treats a broad range of human disease both acute and       chronic, from the common cold and flu to allergies, gynecological disorders, musculoskeletal problems, digestive complaints, and so much more. When prescribed correctly, herbal formulas have no side effects, only beneficial healing results.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is part of the traditional practice of acupuncture. It involves burning the dried leaves of the asian mugwort plant called "moxa". The leaves are densely packed into a stick and burned at or near specific acupuncture points or whole areas of the body. The patient experiences a very comfortable sensation of heat that penetrates deep into the skin.  Healing benefits come from the warmth of the smouldering herb and from the nourishing nature of the mugwort plant itself.

Cupping

Cupping is the the use of glass jars to create suction on various points on the body. Cupping is applied by acupuncturists so that the skin and superficial layer of the muscles are drawn into and held in the cup. This technique is said
to promote blood circulation, unblock stagnation, and relieve pain and swelling. A certain amount of redness of the skin is expected following treatment to produce the best results. Can you see the cups in this picture?

It's invigorating, relaxing and re-energizing method releases blocked energy and restores balanced flow, improving health and preventing disease.
